Merlin engined Halifax.

Email from me to Flyright RedEyes 21st June 2001:

"Having read the Lancaster thread and thought about the engine problem, I had this idea which wouldn't go away, so I had to try it out. Remove the "component" references in the *G.3dz wing file and put (single engine fighter type) prop spinner hardpoints on the engine faces and see what happens.

What happens is (a) we get proper props with spinners and (b) they are both controllable with the usual prop on and off command.

I've posted this on the forum, and I'm going to pass the details on to Panzer Kurt, because I'm kind like that and I forgive him for his comments on the Halifax. However this is now something which could be built into the Halifax (just need to chop down the relevant prop spinner to nothing) and something I need to do for the Midway B17."

Flyright reply:

"I knew it I knew it...I felt it was something that only needed to be jury-rigged!!! Another amazing innovation once again. But its quite clear to me its not that the Halifax was imitating the Liberator but it was the Lancaster imitating the Halifax but never no mind to that ...at least thats one less bomber you might have spent precious time on!"
