Sorry about the delay, we've been dealing with everything from single digit temps, to snow storms, to installation of our new dictator (/sarc).

Truth is, I can't get anything to run. Been banging my head against the PC ( not good for either of us ), and nothing works. I think a lot of it is the immense complication between file sets and long directory sets not talking to each other..............but that could completely wrong, I simply have no idea.

Would it be possible for you to break out the targets, maps, terrain and ONE long directory set for the Eastern Front/Balkans scenario (and any other files you feel necessary, other than the aircraft ) into a smaller package so I can attempt to get the Cold War scenario working?

If that turns out OK I could go back to BETA testing some of the other ones. Maye a one by one method would be more successful.

Ray:

Flummoxed by that. I have even copied the setup to my steam powered XP computer and it still works. Can you tell me exactly what happens? Does PSM160V4.exe load, and can you make selections? Can you run EAW and at what point does it crash?

What happens if you just run eaw.exe without running PSM160V4.exe?

I will try and make up a basic collection of theatre files.

Stratos:

Have you downloaded the setup and had any luck getting it to run?

It's rather odd.

I can select a scenario with the PSM program. I use d3dWindower so EAW opens in the box, not full screen but with any of your scenarios selected the game opens in full screen and immediately CTD's.

Sounds like an argument between the Windower and the setup.

Just a thought, but presumably if you have to use the widower to get D3D, you have to copy over the D3DWindower programme into the downloaded setup.

Have you also copied over any other files the windower needs, such as hook.ini and D3dHook.dll?

Do you then have to setup the windower (1) so it knows the location of eaw.exe is in this setup, and (2) screen size and whether full screen or not?

It's got to be something like this.

Try this

eaw.ini settings
[GRAPHICS]
Width=1024
Height=768

D3Dwindower screen settings in common tab :
width =0,
heigth =0

Done some testing with the D3DWindower as Lolo suggests, and the IBU setup runs fine in a 1024x768 window:

I'm having no success at all with this.

I placed one of your scenarios in my standard 1.6 setup, namely War In The Balkans 44-45 Summer and I placed the correct file in the LongDirectorySet folder.

I then selected the 160career.exe, and the Balkans scenario with the PSM program.

When I try to run the game I get a CTD with "error 162".

Mind you, this is the same setup that I use for SPAWFinalCut and ETO2015 and they run without issue.

I suspect it's something to do with the long directory set but I can't figure out what it is.

If it was something to do the longdirset or the folder names, wouldn't we get the same result on all setups including both of my computers?

Excatly what happens if you try to run the UBI setup without using the windower?

Could you try it using the glide wrapper and see if you get a start?
