Moggy,
I'm greatly appreciating that finally I've gained access to the work areas. It however saddens me to see that many campaigns which were under construction are no longer available. They may contain important ideas for future addons and I feel they shouldn't be erased or removed.
I hope you can restore these areas as there's no telling where someone is willing to continue where others have left off or what could be learned from them.
Often a discovery lies hidden in some dark corner waiting for someone to have a look at it, many of mine came from such dark places.

Hello VB, so far as I know you always had or could have had access to any areas here you wanted to have.
I haven't deleted any of the boards, but as the projects were not being pursued I've just moved them into archive for the time being. I've left the Middle East and Midway boards in public view as these are things I will be working on this year.
Might there be do you think any great purpose in putting any of the others out in public view? Carrier Air War for example?
Anyone else any views on the subject?

Yes, Moggy.
I do think the "projects archived" should be revived, and opened to public view.
As Von B. says, they stimulate interest and provide a resource.
You can always announce at SimHQ and elsewhere they are being re-opened "for a time" one-by-one.
This will be a reminder for those tardy souls who left projects unfinished.
The carriers come immediately to mind.
It will also bring new eyes into your site.
Ditto, you can warn in advance you are "closing and archiving" a project in a week or so for lack of action.
Often, projects fall into disuse for a couple or three reasons:
1) Lack of direction and news from the project coordinator.
2) Lack of development in the project itself.
3) New things happening elsewhere.
Having burdened myself with a glider project, I know full well people join in to contribute WHEN SOMETHING INTERESTING IS GOING ON.
They go back to other areas of interest when there is nothing they can add.

Hi Moggy,
when not visible no one will try and dig into it's hidden secrets, if any. Obviously there must have been many ideas posted, some of which might still trigger some bright mind into using his knowledge on making it work.
It's these ideas which I consider important even when at the time no one could make it work.

I'm working on CAW at the moment. Rotton50 has been a great help in getting the aircraft side of it organised. See here
The Midway downloads are still running at about 10 a month, Dunkirk at about 6, and the AITW beta at about 4.
