Target nearest enemy/friendly

Hi all,
a problem I have encountered online, and offline,
which I heard mention of a long time ago, but now don't remember.
Targeting nearest enemy seems to work quite well. No matter where
he is located, he gets targeted. But targeting nearest friendly gets
me nada unless the friendly is in the view.
Is there a proximity radius or something, and maybe the numbers
were done wrong for friendly?
This is a big problem for me online in cases where I need to find
a squadmate quickly. I either have to repeatedly hit Y while using
the snap views with my hat, or F9 external and mouse-rotate around
my plane while repeatedly hitting Y. (Got me killed a few times!

)
Anyone seen this?
Thanks,
AO

Since no has replied yet, AO...
I never noticed this problem with the "friendlies".
I will say that different exe's have produced some odd results from time to time--possibly because of the jaw.ino thing.
Try some different versions and see if its your own ini file or a glitch in EAW.

Hi Woody,
I have always had this problem, Dumo too, and my buddy Rock.
We were online last night with just stock 1.2.
See if you get it......just do a single mission in the air and take 12
squadies with you. While your view is straight out the front, see if
cntrl+y targets a friendly.
If it does, let me know what exe you are using!
AO
edit: Nope, doesn't work with ANY exe.

New, or old.
Unless the friendly is in your view, you cant target it. And even
when they are in your view, cntrl + Y does not target closest.

Hi guys,
okay, with a new eaw install, no OAW, stock exe patched 1.2
Same problem, so this has nothing to do with any new exe's
or anything.
Checked the eaw.ini file and it says:
TARGET NEXT ENEMY=T
TARGET PREVIOUS ENEMY=SHIFT T
TARGET CLOSEST ENEMY=CTRL T
TARGET NEXT FRIENDLY=Y
TARGET PREVIOUS FRIENDLY=SHIFT Y
TARGET CLOSEST FRIENDLY=CTRL Y
But cntrl+Y targets nothing for me. BUT.....!!!
Shft+Y targets nearest friendly!!
So I have now changed my stick button to Shft+Y to find my nearest
friendly, and am now a happy camper! No one else has responded to
this, so I don't know if anyone else has encountered this. But it
would be nice to find out if I'm the only one??
Thanks,
AO

I had not noticed it because my target closest keys are on my joystick which freed up the keyboard T and Y
TARGET NEXT ENEMY=T
TARGET PREVIOUS ENEMY=SHIFT T
TARGET CLOSEST ENEMY=Joystick_Btn_5
TARGET NEXT FRIENDLY=Y
TARGET PREVIOUS FRIENDLY=SHIFT Y
TARGET CLOSEST FRIENDLY=Joystick_Btn_6

Targeting has not been an issue with me. What I don't get is autopilot. Is it suppposed to work in multiplayer?
I've remapped all other keys to my satisfacton and they seem to work fine.

Man.......let me take a deep breath.........(Ate too much turkey!

)
Hi Jel, my stick buttons are mapped to the keystrokes as opposed to the
command being assigned to my buttons.

Now this makes me
curious if that would work for me, but also why shft+Y targets nearest
friendly for me? (More testing! lol!)
Mike, no autopilot in multiplayer......only wing leveler. (Shft+A)
but this will keep you on a straight and level course.

Ah bo, that means I need to learn to navigate. People like me need navigation help, perhaps there could be nav help in the inflight map. Like heading to target etc.

Beer! Brothels. Babes. We are sounding like the other forum.
Scaleable maps would be nice, yes. But I still think nav help is needed. A heading to follow or some suchthing.
The answer is!!!!

I remember when dling everything I could find when I was into CFS1 that there was a Compass Rose which you could overlay onto your map.See if I can dig it out...Yes the pubs and Brothels are marked in red...
