More about trains

Post by Moggy »

Jel,

I used TList Editor to edit TList35.mpf, which relates to the lines in the Russian area, mainly to get in the Soviet Armoured train model. I did a mixed interdiction mission to Belaja Tserkov, which I hoped would pick up the railway, and it did. But the game then CTD'd looking for a file called RTrack35.ter.

I'm supposing that having edited TList35.mpf the game is now looking for a special track image file for that line. Just to bodge I put in a renamed copy of Train32.ter. This worked.

I am assuming that I need a RTrack*.ter for every TList*.mpf.

You need a corresponding one for every track whose index is a multiple of 5.
If 25 and 30 use the same rails with a different convoy make-up then the "RTrack25.ter" can be copied and renamed as "RTrack30.ter" which is the sort of thing that you did.
BTW have you considered TMogs?

Thanks Jel, I guessed that was the way it worked. I was out of it when most of these railway changes came in, so only really grappling with them now.

I had wondered whether the tmog system also worked with the mobile mods. Was going to do some experiments.

With lines potentially crossing borders it could be interesting ;)

The answer to this is that it does.

I have WingmanT's Soviet Armoured train running on the Russian railway lines in 1944.

As the tmogs for the armoured train I set up Ghostboy's train set.

Flying an interdiction mission in 1943 with most of the 1944 Russian area still under German occupation, I get the Ghostboy models.

What happens if the train crosses the front line, yet to discover.

I need to adjust the distances between the various items of rolling stock. I'm assuming this basically set by the dimensions of the model in its tmod.dat, with additional general adjustment in the tlist.mpf file.
