To Kurt - CAW aircraft slots for 1944
In the original CAW slot list we included aircraft for the 1945 British Pacific Fleet. These were Fleet Air Arm versions of the Avenger, Firefly, Seafire, Wildcat, Hellcat and Corsair in the British slots. Clearly we don't need these aircraft for the first 1944 part of CAW. How shall we handle this? We could simply not use those slots at all, or we could have alternative USNavy squads of existing CAW planes, or bring in some of the USMarine aircraft, perhaps even Army 7th Airforce aircraft. I know we don't want to loose the focus on the carrier bourne aircraft. What do you think?

Pobs correctly points out that if we have US land based aircraft we must have US ground objects which the Tmod list does not provide for. So I suggest we reuse those vacant British aircraft with alternative US carrier squads. Perhaps including one of the light carrier or escort carrier based squads?

Agreed.
Let's create some additional naval units and planes ot use these slots. The escort carriers are important in the Philippines invasion, especially significant in the Battle off Samar when Taffy III was overrun by Kurita's big battleships. I want to get the FM-2 Wildcat into the fray and that was the main fighter for the escort carriers. Other than the big battle just mentioned they were heavily commited to ground attack with rockets and strafing.
It will provide a good alternative career and a different plane for the players to fly.
Cheers

Done deal then. We'll use the remainder of the British slots for the Escort carrier squads.
