As I'll shortly be embarking on the CAW target files, we need to think about the ground objects needed for CAW. These are my first thoughts, though perhaps our ground object types have been there before me.
If we're going to do fair representations of the substantial American and Japanese naval fleets we're going to need apart from the carriers, battleships, cruisers, destroyers and torpedo boats, and probably submarines. The best battleship we currently have is Woolfman's development of the original I did for Midway. Midway also had crude cruisers and MTBs, but these need to be upgraded to the current standards of the game. If we're going to simulate landing forces we may also need landing ships and landing craft.
For the land targets we're going to need Japanese and American armoured vehicles, including the US amphibious types. The Col's new trenches with any ammendments for pacific use would be good for the Japanese defensive positions in the islands and Phillippines
As most of the theatre is sea and islands, and most of the airfields were pretty basic, the only place needing any serious buildings are the towns in the Phillippines, principally Manilla. We probably do need some sort of pacific island rough shelter type things - bamboo and big leaves!
Most of the aifields will be single strips, so we can reuse the single strip without any grass surround or taxiways I did for Pacific Tide, with many of the converted PAW airfield objects with perhaps new higher res skins, and perhaps some parked aircraft.
More thoughts welcome.

Sounds excellent..i have been trying to get hold of the files i need for woolfmans battleships so i could play around with skinning them..my idea was to make a rough looking Bismark and i was going to see if i could get some help from someone(Col Gibbon maybe heh he)to tweak the model for me...we have swordfish ..carriers on the way .the scenario could be done right?
Anyway besides all that i would like to be able to have a go at skinning some ships when they come around
cheers

Hi Moggy. i feel the urge now, after the creation of this site, to start EAW modding again. anyway...i did a small LR Japanese Ho Ni tank gun a while back...i could possibly try and re-do it in HR form, and make some other Japanese vehicles. im having a loko at on war..and they only have 3 drawings there. but ill do a Google and have a look around at tohers..
what would be the main ones that are 'essential' to be in...
I.E. do we have the Chi-Ha modelled?

Hi,
we have a number of 'countryside buildings' available already, at least in basic form, Geo did a 'tin hut' and a 'grass hut' and we have a ' hooch-style' camp model..... since the terrain is relatively empty I agree with Greg that we should use Roys tools and Moggy/Toney's methods to create some nice target-rich sites with plenty of parked aircraft to strafe... it was a major feature of both the US and japanese strategy to hit the enemy on the ground... we should probably also make harbours into nice targets too...
also we need some good bunkered postions to hit since these were major targets too... we have some suitable models for these already... they just need reskinning...
coming from SAW I feel it is important to agree the complete Tmod list BEFORE we do any work on the target files so that we don't have problems later between the eaw_ttd objects and the targetset.... and it saves a lot of wasted time on making unused models too !! :)...
ahhh experience is a wonderful thing :).....
cheers,
Pobs
